Actually that’s out of Britain, and Fox has nothing to do with it all that much, the only official tie between the live and the cartoon is that Matt Groening personally endorsed the live version after he heard that it was being considered.

I assumed that Fox had nothing to do with its creation, and I think it’s awesome if MG “endorsed” it (I can’t imagine why he wouldn’t–it’s terrific), but if whoever made it didn’t have permission, then that’s that. I’m pretty sure The Simpsons are owned by 20th C. Fox, so you can imagine how badly this can go.
