NYC Tidbits

April 20, 2006 | Filed under: NYC, city mouse, misadventures

New York City, although it has been pissing me off lately, is still one fabulous town. Come share some distinctly NYC activities: A perfect Spring day in Central Park. Counting used condoms in The Lake. Meat-on-a-stick (my boyfriend calls them “steak tips” but really, any meat-on-a-stick that’s $2 probably doesn’t fit into the “steak” category. I won’t eat it). The view from the N train as it glides over the Manhattan Bridge. A night at the 2006 Brooklyn Underground Film Festival, which was super cool.

If the red one is a condom, I don’t think I ever want to see that guy!!!

That was great…..really liked this ( not that I don’t like all your posts) but just seeing some of the city…raw…so to speak for me being from Cincy….our downtown is so…….boring…..and it is a shame. I can’t wait to get to New York. I have never been there and I so want to go, and my wife is simply dieing to go…someday….

    Mice on a stick…..that was funny…….

this video reminded me of the reasons i miss the east coast, especially visiting ny.

free-range hipsters! i love it. perhaps you can register freerangehipsters.com and we can stage mockumentary battles (ala rap battles) since i have freerangetuna.com.

That was awsome! I want to visit! The end was excellant! Is your dog happy to be back in the land of concrete and smells, smells, smells? I want to hang with you and your boyfriend and your dog as much as I want to with Charlette, Samantha, Carrie and Miranda!

    Peace

What kind of a dance were those wacky folks doing in the bushes? I want to say it was disco, but without the sounds, well, it’s almost, um, spooky!

    Great video!!!

I’m jealous you are picking up and moving on. Whenever I pass Central Park, I’m reminded of the Tiergarten in Berlin. The trees here are better though because they weren’t destroyed by WW II. I don’t go into Brooklyn much, just for work sometimes and to wander into my old neighborhood. I live 20 blocks from the Harlem Meer.

    Hey there!

Thanks for the comments on my podcast. I don’t know if Let Down is my favorite song by Radiohead, but that CD as a whole is definitely in my top three all time CDs list.

I thought I would let you know, I gave your blog a shout out on my podcast. I love your site! :)

I love your outdoor shots of New York. I so want to go there now (even with the gross condoms in the water). I love how it has so much culture and architecture.

O, and the two dogs were cute. Talk about different as night and day, yeah?

are exactly the same dogs as in your video?
I stayed as an international student for some months in Astoria last year and freaked out when I saw your boyfriend eating the meat on the stick in front of my “old home” :)
Actually I also think that my boyfriend might be ur neighbour.
    Love your blog!
