Taxes: Signed, Sealed Delivered…Almost

April 25, 2006 | Filed under: misadventures

FINALLY! Finished up with my taxes. Actually, they’ve been finished a long while, I just hadn’t mailed them. This is true of a lot of things. I’m embarrassed to report how many times my cable has been shut of because the check is languishing in the bottom of my bag. I’m not very motivated when it comes to paying bills. Not proud of it, just really not as concerned as I ought to be.

And I’m mad that the IRS ended up with some of my cutest postage stamps.

I guess your taxes are helping the deficit. Maybe that’s a positive way to look at it. Taxes don’t piss me off much. I don’t have to fill out the paperwork though so maybe that’s why. They just take money from my paycheck which I guess is a small price to pay to live in a country as well off as this one.

I know government officials (Senators, Reps, President) can mail things to people without postage. I wish it was like that for us mailing things to the government. Or like Canada, where if you mail your government officials it doesn’t cost you postage.

Too much to ask I suppose. Nice stamps btw. I only ever end up with the boring ones :(

    Stamps? What are these… stamps?

I haven’t mailed a physical piece of mail in a LONG time.

Bob from Drinking with Bob says “…just shut up and pay your taxes”. At least you didn’t give the government an interest free loan by paying at the end of year. The gap between rich and poor gets wider. Why do I have to pay taxes when Cheney lives off the interest of his money?

Nope, the government is not concerned with thoughtful small getures, but more likely the opposite. I think the very hungry caterpillar would suit the tax package prefectly.

Don’t give up Curious George!!!! He’s my favorite!!!! Yeah, I hate taxes too. I can never find the right papers that I need cuz I lose them in the vortex that is called “My Room.”

You need to buy those ugly stamps also and save them for your bills. BTW, thanks for the nice comment. Your vlogs are one of my many inspirations.

I love your video! It makes me laugh, however, so true.

The worst thing is that when you choose “the perfect” stamp, recipients don’t notice. I had vanity stamps made of Sheila and sent things to all of our kids, and none of them noticed. I especially chose the Wild Thing for my daughter’s birthday card, and she didn’t notice. I might as well buy stamps by the roll. (But they I would miss the chance to pay my bills with “Animal” muppet stamps to show my anger!)

I loved the very hungry caterpillar when I was in grade one. I remember watching a video about the author, Eric Carle, and how he used a unique painted tissue paper technique to assemble is drawings.

In class we tried it ourselves, and I was bad at it.

Oh you are so not the only one. I have to have automatic withdrawl for my bills or else I would forget to pay them all. Which reminds me, my water bill is due and I have a check to deposit. See, you just helped me from going into the past due folder.
