Bywater Stigmata

or click here for the gore!

It was bound to happen, although I didn’t expect it to happen so soon. Bear witness to our first house renovation work-related injury. Actually, it’s not the first…just the first documented (at his insistence). Prior to dating a vlogger, injuries include electrocution barefoot on a metal ladder while holding a crowbar and drilling his thumb to a wall with a screwgun.** This will be my first video post that comes with a disclaimer: a) there’s some heartfelt and entirely appropriate swearing (although by me and not the injured, oddly) and b) watch this at your own risk. It’s pretty gross. You’ll see grosser things on “Fear Factor”, but if impalement freaks you out, this is not for you. Think of this as a sort of “Fear Factor”/”This Old House” mash-up. Maybe Brian can start his own videoblog and call it “This Old House Just Bit Me.com”. Let it be known, I really wasn’t looking while filming the majority of this video. Because, well, eeeewwwwwwww!

For the nurses and nurses-to-be: we were too caught up in the moment to realize that he shouldn’t have clipped both ends of the splinter to remove it. I work in L&D, people: wounds are not my thing.

**Sitting over my shoulder, Brian would like to point out that he knows EXACTLY what he’s doing, housewise.

Niiiiice. Brian, your young nephew and niece were mesmerised. But yes, the first thing I said to the screen was “why is he cutting off the ends??”

By the way, on a totally unrelated theme but is something I’d like to share with you all, Zac & I were watching videos during dinner last night, and a Coldplay video came on. After a minute or so Zac said “But they don’t know how to play.” Priceless.

I didn’t mind it. I watch a lot of horror movies though so it’s not that bad relatively speaking.

You’d better do a follow up b/c I want to know if he’s OK. I was ready to jump through the screen to hold his hand still, get some choloraprep going on him and be sure he didn’t leave a splinter.

Please tell me he got it all out and didn’t suffer an infection.

    Poor baby!

I must have been doing my whole “negative attitude for a positive life” thing, because I expected that to be far worse. Glad he’s ok…he is, right?

My first thought was “awesome” my second….”Holy Shit” and my third was “Why the hell is he cutting off both ends??” and my last….like Casey was “Wow that’s one tough dude.”

Ouch and holy shit and cool!! Gotta be a nursing student to think that right??

Awesome video, your reaction was priceless, this is definitely a keeper!!
    Hope he’s okay…..

Could have been worse. He could have got Richard Simmons stuck in there.

That would have been WAY louder.

The still image for this one, like the vlog with the 1040 image, scared me away for some time.

I finally watched it when I had a few minutes downtime at work … my coworkers were surely wondering why I was gasping and covering my eyes toward my laptop.

This video is, my friends, reason 214 why I dont do handy work myself.
