FYI, big frogs don’t usually have so many teeth. Objects in the video were closer that they appear. Seriously. There was a plank walkway along the swamp which could be crossed by aligators at any moment. I don’t know if the they ever do, but it was creepy enough to know that they could.
This tidbit is from back in May when we were still in New Orleans. I haven’t posted much in the last couple of weeks (Bad vlogger! Naughty, bad, bad!) for a couple of reasons.
A: I’ve been working and picking up OT in order to save up money to move to a bigger apartment
B: been to a delightful out of town wedding (congratulations Michael & Tara!)
C: attempting to convince my boyfriend fiancee that we should elope. That’s pretty much a full-time job in itself!
It’s also wicked hot in the Northeast–100 today– and I’m hard-pressed to be motivated to do anything more than lie very, very still and eat many, many popsicles.
I’ve also downloaded a whole mess of cool iMovie plug-ins that I’ve been fiddling with and learning how to use. All the better to vlog with, my dear.

Going out to dinner in Chelsea for Brian’s Birthday brought us to the 23rd Street stop of the N/W subway line. Many of the city’s stations are decorated; murals, sculptures, poems, bas-reliefs, paintings and interactive pieces can be found all over town. Much of the artwork is crafted right into the tile walls, like it is at 23rd Street, and much of the artwork is directly related to the station it’s housed in. There’s a terrific photo collection of NYC Subway art here, or you can wait patiently until I take more footage of stations throughout the year.
I’m crazy about this station. I’m also crazy about my boyfriend, partly because he has no qualms about behaving like a total geek in public with me. Huge bonus.

Gorgeous day in the city today: gently warm and not the least bit humid. Maisie and I took a several-hours-long walk through beautiful Western Queens…okay, not all of it was beautiful, some of it was industrial and sort of barren. Armed with a large bottle of water and a Godfather hero (salami, cappicola, prosciutto, sopressata, provelone, lettuce, onions, sweet peppers, tomato, oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, oregano, mayo) we set forth toward Socrates Sculpture Park. A neat little spot about 25 blocks away with cool large-scale art and a killer view of Manhattan. It’s a terrific place to enjoy a sandwich with your dog. Then I got ambitious: we headed north-ish toward Astoria Park and enjoyed the greenery and scenery there, too. I figured since it was such a nice day, why not? Well, Miss Maisie is no spring chicken, and got tuckered out pretty quickly. This was probably the most walking she’s done at once in years. She took frequent water breaks and I took lots of pictures and once we reached Astoria Pool we treated ourselves to hotdogs (onions & mustard for me, plain for her) and a cherry Marino’s Italian ice (complete with little wooden spoon).
Once home, we fell into a furry heap onto the floor. Both of us.
