The Bad news: Miss Maisie’s cancer is back and she’s starting to fade.

The Good news: we’re working hard to make sure her last weeks involve plenty of outside time, extra cuddling and roast beef heros.

We drove Maisie up to the Rockefeller State Park the other day and had some nice quiet time in the woods. She’s such a city dog, she didn’t quite have any idea what to do with herself off-leash. I think she had a nice time. All three of us needed a break from the stress we’ve been under (house flip-flopping, fatal illness, job loathing, impending-birthday-aging-dread). The park was lovely and huge and empty.

On a technical note, I have no idea why the quality of this video stinks so badly. Same camera, same compression settings, I’m baffled. I’m working on it. It bugs me.

She’s such a beautiful dog. It’s obvious how much you love her. I’m sorry she’s sick. It’s so sweet that you are spending so much quality time with her. I hope she can hang on and be comfortable for as long as possible.

The clip brought tears to my eyes, since we’re facing the same thing with Kimba. Maisie is a beautiful dog who looks so happy and is obviously nuch loved.

What a sad time for you. You are being good to your dog. My sweet cat died from mandibular cancer a few months ago. She had slept with me every night for 14 years, and I still miss her.

Maisie is a gentle, well-loved, and regal pooch. What a peaceful and happy soul! Thank you for taking such good care of another one of God’s creatures. Its hard, I know. But I can’t imagine a better home to spend her last days in than with you guys.

I lost my Golden to cancer a few years ago. It was almost like losing one of my kids. I can see you’re so loving with your dog. She’s a sweetheart.

    Good on ya, luv.

On a cheerier note: I heard it’s your birthday, so happy birthday! (Actually, not sure it=f it’s exactly today, but hope you were wined and dined in the style to which you deserve to become accustomed).

You just about made me cry.

It is interesting how we can get so attached to our pets. They are family.
We want them to live forever.

Ok, really, I am sad, I won’t say anything else but I understand the pain of going through the process of loosing a faithful companion.

Siiiiiiiigh. I’m so sorry about Maisie.

You’ve got a good strategy. Love her, play with her, be with her as much as you can. My heart breaks for you.
