SNOW DAY!! Winter wonderland, indeed! It’s overwhelming! It has been snowing non-stop since last night and we’ve got tons of snow on the ground. It’s hard to say how deep it is because giant drifts have been blown all over the place but it must be at least two feet. And now that Main Street has been plowed, there are huge piles of snow rimming the sidewalks as well. The few sidewalks we have a totally buried. Very few people have shoveled (why bother, it’s still snowing!) so you have to walk right up the main road. No cars to worry about–only a fool would be out driving in this. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a storm this big outside the city. It’s so gorgeous and this charming one-stop-light town looks like a vintage postcard!(and actually, we don’t even have a stop light, just a lone yellow caution light. It makes an appearance in the video)
My vacation got extended by five days and I dread leaving. Winter in the city stinks! When it snows it’s really lovely for about three hours then everything gets frozen and filthy and sooty and filled with garbage. When it finally melts there are newly freed piles of trash floating around. Blecch…but this?
This is Winter Heaven.
Admittedly, a shovel would be nice.

Come on, that was nothing…. Although here in Mpls you would think that happens all of the time, well it used to. For the last 4-5 years, are winters are tame…. It appears that te4h East is getting wacked this year.
You are correct, a really good snowfall is beautiful. The quiet, the white, the trees, it’s pretty cool.
Hey, where is the Pt. II of the Porn picture that guy (husband, boyfriend ?) was drawing…?

He’s still working on the drawings! Art takes time, you know! He promised me he’d gather the newly de-porned porn drawing soon! I’m looking forward to it!

Lovely snow shots!! You’re really making me want to head (back) out to Canada where we can be dumped on with a few feet every year.
Although it has snowed twice so far in London. Got a few good photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/saintcyr/368005978/
But you stumped me with the “I can’t get out” bits. Life in the city has affected you? Sure, the truck was snowbound, but you were going to walk around in your boots anyway, yes? The snow wasn’t nearly deep enough to stop you. For your next snow video we want to see you jump right in and make a snow angel!

The siren at the beginning reminded me of Silent Hill spooky!

Russell, some of those drifts were DEEP!Like to my lower thighs! Seriously! I did sort of find a way to trudge my way out, but my concern was more with my boots utterly filling with snow in the first five seconds (they did) of my walk to the Post Office!
But it’s true…city life has made me a total wuss.

Thanks for stopping by again, Anonymous! So far you’ve been a joy. This time, though, you are 100% correct! Growing up in NYC meant the rare heavy snowfall, no shoveling and no worrying about trudging through thigh-high snow drifts to walk to the store. I grew up in a place where 3″ of snow can slow the city to a crawl. It’s ridiculous. This is like the wilderness to me, and 30″ of snow is peanuts to some. And really, adoes anyone LIKE their boots filling with snow? I don’t.
I did buy a shovel today.

As beautiful as it is, I don’t miss those heavy snows one bit. I knew during my first winter in upstate NY that I didn’t belong anywhere within about 700 miles. Of course, down here in VA we get ice storms and everyone uses it as an excuse to drive poorly and blame everyone else for the resulting accidents.

I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT (the site/blogs/videos). YESSSSS!! LIFE THROUGH A REAL SET OF EYES (smile). Snow(storms)? I have to say that I can totally relate. I now reside in Pennsylvania (not too far from the Pocono mountains. Do we get snow!! And I still commute to NY to work. Spoiled by NY? Ummm, yeah!! But, what more beautiful and serene then freshly fallen snow?. You are truly the coolest coolest cousin in the world.

Now I know why I live in California. It’s truly beautiful, but I don’t know that I could actually live like that thru a winter. You disappointed me, tho…I expected you to crawl out a window!

some great snow crunching sounds and footage - sorry you didn’t even get a cupcake - they haven’t been made yet! next time… (p.s. you missed another foot of snow Thursday night…)
As my former boss loved to remind me before I left the city for this winter wonderland: don’t forget to stretch BEFORE AND AFTER shoveling…

And here in Canada I waited. I waited and wanted. Through December and through most of January. I watched the weather stations, stuck my nose against the window with a heart full of anticipation. Hoping. http://vlog.mikemoon.net/2007/02/snow-follies.html
Thanks for sharing.

GORGEOUS!!! I want to come visit and slide down hills on a sled or an innertube. Can I? Can I? Please.
Looks fantastic but I can say that because I live in Florida where it is currently 78 degrees.
Are you still snowed in?? or has it melted yet?
