This morning I went to feed the birds and got a furry surprise.

FYI: birds aren’t furry.

UPDATE 5/9: less than six hours after I shot this video, I opened the box to show the babies to a friend. Gone. Vanished into thin air like Keyser freakin’ Soze.

“…and poof. Just like that, he’s gone”

Yeah, but you gotta give it up to Momma Squirrel, she found a kick ass place to have those babies. I can almost hear her saying it now…..”Build a nest…my ASS, these dumbasses built one for us.”
Too funny. They are cute when their tiny though.

OK. You take a tall metal pole with a hook on it. You make a shelf with an edge about 1″ tall, and you hang the shelf from the pole. Squirrel-proof. My mother had her stepson make it for her. I’ll send you a pic next time I’m down there.

(cute babies, tho! Sorry–I’m a fuzzy baby person)

I hope she doesn’t abandon them. I would guess they’re quite helpful to have around to plant nuts all over the place. They certainly have their place in the ecosystem. Some people don’t like them nibbling on their gardens though but I guess you have to factor them in along with other animals. Did you read about the homeowners that had bats in their attic?
