This was supposed to be a wholly different post. But it’s not, because I suck.
I swear I’m not an unsafe driver compared to the idiots out there. I just didn’t pass.

Ah geez. That sucks.
But, before you know it, you’ll pass the next test, or the one after that.
You’ll look back at this small snippet of time (a few months of a lifetime) and it will be fine.
Hang in there.
We’re all pulling for you.

feel sorry for you, with so much depending on passing. But maybe the universe was not ready for you to be driving yet. There could have been an oil spill and a tanker wreckage and unholy carnage in your first trip upstate that, had you been driving, you could have been caught up in. Yeah it dont make you feel any better now, and you’ll never know for sure, but you have to believe things happen for a reason one way or another. It will happen when you are truly ready. Dont give up. Hang in there…

I know we’re only Twitter-friends, but now I feel like a jackass for commenting on how the New Mexico driving “test” is just a few right turns. dUb doesn’t think The Land of Enchantment even has a test now, and our drivers are consistent with that statement. Long story short, I’m sure you drive better than most of the country, and that you’ll pass soon. I concur with adam - things happen for a reason. Even if that reason is hewn from hope and hindsight.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh honey, I feel so bad for you! I honestly don’t think I will move to another state ever again because I do not want to take the driving test ever again.

Reading kathy’s reply above. So do you have to take a test every time you move states?
Anyway, I feel for you. No consolation but it took me three goes all those years ago. First time I’m not sure I could drive (Examiner: “Watch out for that bus!”). The second time I thought I’d passed (Me: Damn!”), and didn’t get the job I was after as a consequence, and had to wait 3 months to retake. Third time, Bingo.
Thing is, you don’t really learn to drive until you get to go out on your own. Where you can just relax a bit and just get on with it. That’s when the real learning begins.
My next door neighbour a few years back cried half the day because she failed hers (she needed to drive to take her young boy – who had learning difficulties – to his new school). She passed the next time.
You’ll do it soon. You really will.
Good thoughts to you from London.

i failed the driving test twice (and the written test 3 times). I was so nervous with the cop sitting next to me that I would “over-drive”. He probably thought I was crazy since I would drive too slow and take my turns like an old lady. I eventually passed as you will.

Thanks, guys. It makes me feel better than not EVERYONE passed their road test on the first try, even though most of y’all were likely still in high school at the time. I was just so nervous. There really was no way I would have passed. I’m just not ready. I’m utterly humiliated by it when instead I should be humbled by the danger of it all. But it’s really frustrating: on the way home fron the test I saw three cars blow through stop signs and no less than four cars forget to signal when turning.
Stupid city.
Next time. Hopefully.
Thanks again for the kind words.

Oh Bekah, you just broke my heart into tiny little pieces. I’m so so sorry - I know how much this meant to you. And you are SO BRAVE for posting this video and sharing this moment.
Tell you what, come visit me in Phoenix and you can practice driving for a whole week before your next test - you can practice in my car, as you drive us back and forth to a nice relaxing spa! I mean it!
Oh! Hug hug. Love you, darlin’, hang in there.

hey, Jan will be here before you know it. you’ll do great. i agree w Cheryl re: brave. i’d never be able to just cry in front of the camera. and if you’re gonna saunter on over to Phoenix, you might as well practice driving some more and pass through NM. hang tight. things will fall into place.

I’m getting ready to teach Andreas to drive. We’ll film it for solidarity, okay? The fuzz make me nervous - I’d have failed for sure with regulatory folks sittin’ with me. I got to take my test from my high school love’s daddy, who was also a middle school history teacher. Thanks, small town Indiana! In other words, it’s all crap lies. I couldn’t even parallel park back then, and he passed me anyway. They’re either gonna chill or somehow, a personal calm will get you over the hump. Whichever comes first, an early congrats for when you get to put yourself legally behind the wheel. Soon is the new later.

I’m so sorry that happened! *hugs* I know how you feel though–I failed the written test the first time and the driving test twice! It’s one of those stupid things in life where they get you on little niggly things and perfectly competent people “fail.” You WILL pass.
And to echo what Cheryl said–it is very brave of you to post such an honest and raw video.

I tried for years to give to pass my test. Then my mate rec’d a self hypnosis thing. It has worked for me and was only cost a few bucks. The guy that told me about said to try www.leadingminds.biz so I am recommending the same thing:)

Don’t be embarressed about it! I’m STRESSING OUT right now because I’ve failed my driving test twice already, and I’m 19. And i’m taking it again in a month before I go back to school. Words can’t explain the depression and embarressment i’ve went through because of this. Hopefully the third time will be the charm for me. All it comes down to is not giving up. Just keep practicing and getting more and more experience, and eventually, you’ll pass! God, let’s hope i do! :\
