Happy VloMo ‘08! The name has changed but the song remains the same: a video a day for the month of November. Alley-oop!
Months ago I bought a USB record player and was *so* excited to hear all my old records again. I call it an audio/viusal tale of “whoa!” with “whoa!” as in “Whoa! I never realized I had so much crapo music in my record collection!”. There are some gems in there, too, of course.
This is only half the “collection”. I use the term “collection” loosely because all my music seems to fit into only four categories:
Prince
Musical Theater
The Police
British synth
The other half of the clips are sitting in a folder awaiting editing or deletion. Editing this turn out to be zero fun (LOCK AUDIO AT PLAYHEAD WTF), and I may not get around to the other half without pulling all my hair out.
Enjoy this trip down 80’s memory lane!
Vinyl FTW!

with the exception of the musical theatre stuff, i had almost everything in this clip. i still have a lot of it in digital format, but i kind of miss vinyl.
actually, i did have west side story, since that’s one of the only musicals i like.

Fantastic!
Jotting down some iPod flashbacks… Bauhaus, The Smiths.
Thanks a bunch for sharing.
Wow… what a job, a lot of work went into that.

What kind of USB player did you get? I’ve been thinking of getting one for a very long time. It sounds like it needs post-production work?

YOU DID THIS USING iMOVIE? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?
Well, if you weren’t before, you surely must be by now.
It was worth the effort, though. I just watched it with Kate. We both thought it was inspired.
But she didn’t understand the pain that must have gone into this.

great! I have some of those - I used to love Erasure as a high schooler. I still buy records these days! I love the warmth of the sounds.

So much fun! The only vinyl that I remember for sure that I had was Born in the USA & We Are the World, which is very, very sad.

If I were doing this in iMovie I’d do all the audio first, then drop in the images. What a pain! But I loved it. Pippin FTW!!

I’m not sure what I can add, but I had to acknowledge this one. Great flashbacks to music I had mostly forgotten. Viva Long Tail!

I’ve known we’ve shared similar taste in music for sometime. Now it’s nice to see you appreciate the showtunes, and I do have that stage version of Oliver. But heavy on Bauhaus and no Siouxsie or The Cure?
