You get to go to all the best parties. One year, if I ever get enough doubloons together, I shall be heading for that thar Mardi Gras. Oh, yah.

Thanks for the great taster. What a superb looking gathering.

    What. the Hell. was That.

Ok, I know it’s Mardi Gras. But is that normal Mardi Gras?

Can there be normal Mardi Gras after Katrina?

I’ve never been to Mardi Gras, but that just doesn’t look like what I’d imagined. And I can’t say why.

@Cheryl I *think* that was the Red Beans & Rice Parade, but I cannot be certain.

Sure! Mardi Gras was back to full speed the first year after Katrina, albeit with a smaller attendance. New Orleaners take Mardi Gras verrrrrrry seriously. And, yes, that was totally normal. Actually, that’s pretty normal for New Orleans on a random Tuesday.

I’m dying to know what you imagined!!

Obviously, there are much huger parades that run for miles with floats and marching bands, too. About three a day for over a week, and that’s just in New Orleans proper. There are smaller ones all over the city and throughout the suburbs, too.

I love a giant parade, but the wee ones are hilarious!

Thanks for this video. I was lucky enough to go to 4 Mardi Gras from 1984-89 with a Carnival in Rio in 1988. The video equipment was too bulky to lug along but I did shoot many photos of all the trips. Many too racy to post. Hopefully next year I’ll get a video collage of the trips I made.
