The pop-culture value of bacon has decreased sharply in recent months*, but Zombies? Never!

Brian briefly thought he was going to create posed insect sculptures, and I got very whiny about it. Because, ewww.

And if this had been slapped together with the old iMovie, I’d have been able to adjust the sound more easily and you could hear Brian better. But it wasn’t.

I’ve been obsessed with roast chicken for years. It’s just one of those things that’s always good, but is sometimes crazyfantastic. This was one of those times. This is also one of those recipes that sounded so damn appealing that food bloggers went wild with it. Chicken Toast everywhere!

The man I’m going to marry made this for me after I sent him a photo of the giant black filing cabinet that suddenly appeared on the our unit. I tried every monolith joke in the book on my co-workers (okay, just the one above, actually) but no one “got” it.

I’m glad I’m marrying a man who completely understands me.

SO, I just got back from New Orleans and I have mountains of footage on three different cameras (long story) and between the different cameras and all my compresion/codec/whatnot settings on my OLD computer that I totally forgot to write down before I left NY to put on my new computer and iMovie ‘09 which I TOTALLY dislike and have NO idea how to use and the fact that one of the cameras is a spiffy Xacti HD100 that changes everything ENTIRELY there’s been a delay in editing and posting. The jury is still out of the HD100.

You’ll likely be enjoying Mardi Gras footage for Easter.

There are some snippets shot with my photo camera I exported with the default (read “suck”) Quicktime settings that are worth posting, though, so I’ll put those up for now.

I miss New Orleans. I want a catfish po’boy like NOW.

ps: Lee’s brother was AT the second hardware store and wanted to note that it was, in fact, a yellow dress.

I’m always eyeballing folks’ Relationship Status on Facebook. Always checking out those little red hearts. It always seems like such a personal thing to be sending to a public feed. Getting ‘In A Relationship’, becoming ‘Engaged’, suddenly ‘No Longer In A Relationship’…and then there’s room for comments; I never know what to say. Congratulations! Oh, I’m really sorry. WTF?

I never worried about this myself because Brian never had a Facebook account. Under pressure from his friends at work, he asked me to help him out (translate: “do it for him”). We both thought this would be a fun Saturday afternoon activity. What is was, in fact, was a pain in the patootie.

Turns out he already had an account under a false name that he’d forgotten about but it was tied to his primary email address so we couldn’t change his name (John Sinclair of Utica, NY…yeah. I don’t know what that’s about). Then we tried creating a secondary email address under a moniker he’s always been known by but it turns out he had already created THAT address, too, and did not remember the password nor THAT email’s secondary email address to retrieve it.

Two email accounts later we set about getting Facebook Engaged.

This took over an hour because we have one computer to work from and had to sign in and out of our respective Gmail and FB accounts repeatedly.

NOW we’re a “real couple”!

Embarking on 2009’s version of a New Year’s Diet Resolution, I’m trying to reduce my carbs and sugar intake in order to make my jeans fit. Jeans I wore two years ago now don’t make it too far past my knees. Seriously. So it’s sort of a modified South Beach diet I like to call "Bekah Beach Diet".

One thing that tripped me up last time was that I have a zero tolerance policy for artificial sweeteners. They’re vile. I’ve tried Equal, Splenda, Sweet n’ Low and even the 50/50 Splenda/sugar baking blend to no avail. They’re hellagross.

Stevia? I had high hopes.

The sh*t is nasty. It makes my coffee taste contaminated. It sort of tastes like this.

So I keep the added sugar in my coffee and try and reduce it elsewhere.
