But I do have a soft spot for dandelions or dent de lion (lion’s tooth) as the French would say. I love them in a wild landscape. And although you can never pick them and put them in a vase (the flower head closes up), they do have their ‘medicinal’ uses. The leaves are high in vitamins A and C, and when young are great in salads (when I lived in Scotland years ago, we used to occasionally eat them!). And I used to know someone who made a delicious country wine using the florets. And of course, the roots can be dried and ground for used as a coffee substitute. I shall shut up now.

we used to sing a song, and “flip” off the head of dandylions…it goes like this….”mary had a baby and it’s head poped off!” (that would be the point when we would pop off the head of the dandylion with our thumb….) Ah….youth…..
